MIFF picks 2009

Life being as it is I will probably only make it to about three of these ...

POST PUNK MIX-TAPE#3

They all look interesting/possibly shit but I want to see the stuff about the Crystal Ballroom ...

WE'RE LIVING ON DOG-FOOD
Commentary on Dogs in Space! Very excited.

I NEED THAT RECORD
For my record store past and for the future of the Historical Vinyl Society.

BLANK CITY
No-Wave, baby.

VISUAL ACOUSTICS: THE MODERISM OF JULIUS SCHULMAN
When I went to LA a chatty taxi drive took me and my friend Amanda up to see the Chemosphere so i could take some photos with my then-beloved now-forgotten Holga. You've probably seen The Chemosphere in Charlies Angels. But I remember it from The Babymaker and Petulia. I thnk Neil Young lived there for a while. A film I have been wanting to see for ages Los Angeles Plays itself has a bit of Lautner in it - see here:

LOUISE BOURGEOIS: THE SPIDER, THE MISTRESS AND THE TANGERINE

CHEEKY GIRLS

The only one I match with you on so far is Cheeky Girls. I always love the YA films at the festival, they never disappoint. Otherwise I'm just careful to see nothing containing the words bleak, uncomfortable, study in silence, sombre or French.

I just found out I'm going to opening night - black tie and Balibo! Can't wait!

I'm with you on Cheeky Girls too.
I avoid the words/phrases: "most accessible film to date", "ambitious", "audacious", "monochromatic" and "war".
